Barbara Klassen

Executive Director

Barbara has over 25 years leadership experience in health care. Her healthcare career started as a front-line paramedic, and quickly moved to leadership roles in Emergency Medical Services, Family Health Team and her past role as the Trauma Program Manager for Hamilton Health Sciences Regional Trauma Centre. Barbara has a MA in Leadership from the University of Guelph. She has a keen interest and experience in system development, quality improvement and access to care.

Vanessa Henry is our Clinical Lead. She was been with the family health team since 2016 and was previously our Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at Brescia University College and then completed her accredited dietetic internship at Hamilton Health Sciences.   She has previously worked in diabetes cardiac health and chronic disease prevention.

Urslin has several years of experience as an IT professional, and has coordinated and implemented projects in manufacturing, banking and health care industries.  In her current role as a Quality Improvement Decision Support Specialist (QIDSS), she supports Family Health Teams using OSCAR EMR.  Based on the QIDSS framework which assumes that having and using data is a useful strategy to improve performance, her work is highly focused on facilitating the use and understanding of data to plan and implement clinical change through change management and quality improvement. In her spare time she likes working on home improvement DIY projects and decorating cakes.

Sue Merritt is our self-employed part-time accountant for the Haldimand Family Health Team.  Sue is in our office 2 to 3 days per week to handle our bookkeeping needs. Sue has over 25 years of accounting and taxation experience from the manufacturing, service, small business and now healthcare industries. A graduate of the Business Admin and Accounting Program from Mohawk College, Fennel Campus.  Sue was born and raised in the rural area of neighbouring West Lincoln and has been a proud resident of Haldimand County since 2000.

Tammie Bartlett works as the part time receptionist in Hagersville 2 days a week and has over 25 years experience working in medical clinics. Tammie also has experience as an administrator and has always made patient concerns her top priority.  Tammie was born and raised in Dunnville, but now lives in Niagara where she is actively involved in restoring an old farmhouse in her spare time.

Lisa Carusello has been with the Haldimand Family Health Team since 2006. Lisa worked at the Hagersville site for 13 years in the Front Receptionist role and has most recently transferred back to her hometown of Caledonia to work at the team's 245 Argyle Street South clinic as Front Office Administrator.

Kim has been working with the Haldimand Family Health Team for over ten years as a receptionist at the Dunnville site. During this time, she has enjoyed working with a great team that she believes serves the Haldimand community well - working with the Interdisciplinary Professionals is something she values, as it underscores the importance of team work in health care. Born and raised in Dunnville, she continues to reside here with her family.

Betsy works in our Caledonia office three days a week as the Administrative Assistant supporting the Executive Director, Clinical Lead, and the Board of Directors.   Betsy has vast experience in the administrative field supporting Executives in day-to-day operations and calendar management.   She has worked with several Boards both in corporate organizations and not for profits and has a good understanding of Board Governance and is proficient in taking meeting minutes.
